New Fort Lauderdale Police Headquarters Undergoes Construction at 1300 W. Broward Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL

Fort Lauderdale’s getting a $140 million police headquarters. Construction started on the 192,263-square-foot venture in summer 2023. The three-story building will replace the former police headquarters, which was less than half of the size of the new facility.

According to the City of Fort Lauderdale, the energy-efficient complex will feature training rooms, an evidence warehouse, and a secure parking garage. It will also feature a 5,270-square-foot community center where “residents and officers can work together on crime prevention and safety initiatives.”

The three-story project cost $140 million.

The new headquarters will replace the old station that was built in the 1950s. Our sources reported that employees are currently working out of a temporary location. Construction is expected to end on the parking garage in August 2024. Sitework on the larger project will likely conclude in summer 2025.

The new police headquarters has been in the works since March 2019, when voters approved a $100 million bond. Three years later in March 2022, the state deemed the project historically significant.

The new headquarters will require more than 190,000 square feet of new construction.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department headquarters is taking shape at 1300 W. Broward Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33312, in Broward County. It lies west of I-95, just a short walk from Brightline Fort Lauderdale to the east.
