Mixed-Use ‘Whitney Village’ Planned for 3200 1st Avenue South, St. Petersburg, FL

Four-and-a-half acres of the Jim & Heather Gills YMCA in St. Petersburg could soon be developed in a venture known as “Whitney Village.”

Led by Blake Investment Partners and Greystar Real Estate Partners, the project would yield a five-story, 325-unit residential complex called “The Bellamy at Whitney Village.” According to the Tampa Bay Times, floorplans would span studio to three-bedroom designs. Future residents would have complimentary memberships to the YMCA.

The mixed-use development would occupy 4.5 acres of a larger 11-acre site.

The Bellamy at Whitney Village is just one piece of the larger Whitney Village puzzle, however. Plans also call for 32,000 square feet of retail space, with 50 residences above the retail development. Those homes specifically would offer housing for local employees, including those working at the on-site YMCA.

Aside from the residential and commercial aspects, St. Pete Rising notes that plans include a parking garage and an artificial playing turf. While the project has been in the works for 18 months, many details are still pending.

We do not know the proposed construction timeline, but we do know that Place Architecture designed the development, and George F. Young is the involved engineering firm. Whitney Village could soon take shape at 3200 1st Avenue South, St. Petersburg, FL, 33712, in Pinellas County.
