Empira Group has acquired 912-921 East Ponce de Leon Boulevard in Coral Gables for $18 million, with plans to develop The Aurelian, a 12-story Class-A multifamily building. Designed by Behar Font, a renowned local architect, the project is expected to break ground in early 2026.

The site spans two corners of a residential block in the heart of Coral Gables. Surrounded by a lush, tree-lined neighborhood, the property offers expansive skyline views of both Downtown Coral Gables and Brickell. The development will feature 161 luxury residential units, each designed with spacious layouts, high-end finishes, and generous private balconies.

Amenity offerings will include a large pool and outdoor lounge area set within landscaped surroundings and trellises wrapped in flowering plants. A state-of-the-art fitness center with a private yoga studio will also be included, along with 5,000 square feet of public park space featuring a children’s play area. The building will provide a private parking garage with capacity for 248 vehicles.

At the entrance to the property, a new sculpture by Michele Oka Doner, the internationally acclaimed artist known for more than 40 public and private installations, will be placed for public viewing. Cast in bronze and designed to evoke a golden glow, the piece draws inspiration from the natural abundance and timeless elegance of Coral Gables.

“With limited land available for new development in Coral Gables, the opportunity to build a luxury multifamily project in one of the most prestigious residential real estate markets in the U.S. is something Empira couldn’t pass up,” said Rafael Aregger, Head of US Investments at Empira Group. “The City of Coral Gables is a true standout location for real estate investment and demands the best in design and function. Our approach to refined residential development will complement the historic elegance and strong resident appeal of Coral Gables and we look forward to bringing our vision to life.”

“Residents will enjoy unmatched walkability, along with a full suite of premium amenities designed to elevate everyday life,” said Branko Kuzmanovic, Director of Acquisitions at Empira Group. “With thoughtfully crafted Mediterranean-inspired architecture, the project will feature spacious unit layouts, large private balconies, and exceptional design that blends classic charm with modern living.”

The Aurelian marks Empira’s latest expansion in South Florida and continues the firm’s focus on high-end multifamily development in premier urban markets.

  1. Design is very bland. I expect far more for Coral Gables, the City Beautiful.

    • Every other city at least deserves something of this design in a heartbeat. This building would look great and fit perfectly in Little Havana, Wynwood, etc., or even Aventura for that matter.
