Developers have revised plans for Whitney Village, a mixed-use development under construction in St. Petersburg.

Initial plans in 2024 called for 380 apartments, 32,000 square feet of retail, and 600 parking spots. Now, Blake Investment Partners is seeking approval for additional apartments and wants to reduce the retail aspect.

New plans call for 385 apartments, 60 of which will be housed in a mid-rise building called “The Vessel at Whitney Village,” located on the parcel’s northernmost side. Residential layout plans would include one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. St. Pete Rising reports that the increase is tied to another project unfolding within Whitney Village, the 325-unit The Henry at Whitney Village.

That venture is set to feature studio to three-bedroom units, with completion anticipated for 2027. Greystar is working with Griffin Capital to make the development possible.

FK Architecture designed Whitney Village. George F. Young Inc. is the civil engineer. The St. Petersburg Development Review Commission intends to review plans for the expansion in February. The request to proceed with 385 residences is still under the 688-unit limit.

Whitney Village is unfolding in St. Pete’s Grand Central District on 4.5 acres of the Jim & Heather Gills YMCA. Its address is 3200 1st Avenue South, St. Petersburg, Florida, 33712, in Pinellas County.
