Bungalows dating back to the 1920s will be replaced with a boutique apartment complex in St. Petersburg.

This past week, the St. Petersburg Development Review Commission approved plans for a two-building apartment complex that would feature 11 units. Specifically, plans call for a three-story building with a parking garage and eight units, along with a two-story building with three units. St. Pete Rising reports that homes would range from studio to two-bedroom units, measuring 308 to 734 square feet. Amenities would include space for bicycle storage and nine parking spots, one more than the required eight.

As noted, Coral Development is the developer. The firm has owned the 0.23-acre build site since 2022. The site is designated as NSM-1 (Neighborhood Suburban Multifamily), meaning that under normal circumstances, the developer would be limited to building just three units. Yet, because the site historically hosted 11 units, the limitation was waived.

Coral Development intends to spend $2 million to make its 11-unit development possible. Storyn Studio for Architecture designed the venture. Conceptual renderings show that the low-rise buildings would occupy the east and west sides of the property, facing a courtyard and water feature.

The 11-unit apartment complex is slated for 421 15th Avenue South, St. Petersburg, Florida, 33701, in Pinellas County.
