Construction is set to start on a high-rise mixed-use development in St. Petersburg following years of delays. In 2023, Chicago-based Focus purchased the project’s now-vacant 0.92-acre corner lot for $20.23 million. Yet, because of various financial and administrative delays, plans stalled – until just recently.

Focus, in partnership with Bradford Allen, is planning a 24-story building that would feature both residences and retail. Plans call for 373 one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, most of which (75 percent) would be one-bedroom layouts. Communal amenities span more than 3,000 square feet, with some features including a fitness center and ground-floor co-working space.

In addition to the lifestyle aspect, the venture will host 6,000 square feet of retail, along with a parking podium with space for more than 300 vehicles. KAST Construction is the general contractor. The firm plans to spend anywhere from 26 to 28 months to make the venture possible, with delivery anticipated for 2028. In total, the tower will span approximately 511,509 square feet of new construction.

Place Architecture designed the tower; Gensler is leading the interior design. Focus and Bradford Allen’s 24-story high-rise tower is planned for 275 5th Street South, St. Petersburg, Florida, 33701, in Pinellas County. It will be located in St. Petersburg’s Central Business District (CBD).
