Miami-based Abreu Development intends to move forward with a mixed-use venture on more than 20 acres.

The proposed Sunstone would comprise multiple standalone structures. The residential aspect would comprise four buildings, featuring 200 units. The one-bedroom to three-bedroom residences would measure about 755 to 1,445 square feet. The site would feature a swimming pool, pickleball court, and playground.

The commercial space would span five buildings and include 56,530 square feet of retail. Some of the anticipated tenants would include a car wash and drive-thru restaurant. Other features of Sunstone include a 3,026-square-foot clubhouse and 789 parking spots.

The Homestead Development Review Committee intends to review Abreu Development’s proposal on June 23rd. The firm purchased Sunstone’s 20.2-acre build site for a combined $9.5 million in January. The four-parcel build site currently serves agricultural purposes.

Abreu Development has other evolving projects in its pipeline. Last July, it filed rezoning plans that would change a parcel from “low-density residential” to “industrial and office.” This would allow for 673,243 square feet of warehouse or self-storage space.

Cabrera Ramos Architects designed Sunstone. Attorney Hugo Arza of Holland & Knight is representing the developer’s application. Our sources list Sunstone’s address as being west of Southwest 137th Avenue, Homestead, FL, 33033, in Miami-Dade County.
