Plans are in the works for an affordable housing project in Sarasota. Construction on the community started earlier this year. It was the first to be proposed under the Live Local Act in the County.

Sarasota Station is set to comprise 202 affordable housing units, with floorplans ranging from studio to two-bedroom apartments. Interior finishings will include granite countertops and other modern finishings.

Business Observer notes that residency is reserved for households earning 60 to 80 percent of the area median income (AMI). Sarasota County’s median income is currently $83,003, per county records.

Future residents at Sarasota Station will have access to a host of on-site amenities, including but not limited to a dog park, basketball court, and clubhouse. There will also be a community center and easy access to the nearby Legacy Trail. Sarasota Station is estimated to cost $30 million to complete.

Another unfolding project in Sarasota County is Alton Sarasota, a project Florida YIMBY covered in October 2025. That project, a garden-style multi-family development, is slated to feature 256 residences. Completion’s slated for later this year.

Sarasota Station will be located on a 4.38-acre site located at 2211 Fruitville Road and 300 Audubon Place, Sarasota, Florida, 34237, in Sarasota County.
