Construction is slated to start on an affordable housing venture in Tampa. The Tampa Bay Times share that supporters call the project “a lifeline” for those struggling with housing insecurity in the region.

The Vicente is set to feature 20 residences, with residency aimed at households earning up to 80 percent of the area median income (AMI). Hillsborough County’s median income is currently $104,700. Plans call for 16 one-bedroom units and four two-bedroom units.

In addition to the residences, the boutique community will also feature ground-floor retail space. Developer Urban ReWorx shares that The Vicente is funded by $4.5 million in contributions from the City of Tampa ($750,000), the East Tampa CRA ($3.5 million), and the remaining from private equity. The Tampa Bay Council may allocate additional funds to the project at a later date.

Urban ReWorx intends to host The Vicente’s groundbreaking ceremony on September 2nd. The build site currently hosts a car wash that will be demolished to make way for new construction. LoopNet shares that the car wash was built in 1964, and its parcel measures 0.31 acres.

The Vicente is planned for 2914 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa, FL, 33602, in Hillsborough County.
