As it stands, Plantation Walk is a 27-acre mixed-use development that replaced Broward County’s Fashion Mall. The venture currently offers more than 300 apartments. Now, a second phase is in the works, which will add even more residences to the development. The project could cost more than $130 million to complete, although this has not been confirmed.
The South Florida Business Journal reports that the second phase, located on the south side of the venture, will offer 297 apartments in an eight-story building. Homes will measure about 630 square feet to 1,480 square feet. Future residents can choose from studios to three-bedroom units.
The mid-rise building will also be accompanied by a seven-story parking garage with close to 800 spots. Communal amenities include a swimming pool, fitness center, and clubhouse. Sources report that construction could start in December 2022.
BC Architects AIA, Inc. designed the venture. Encore Capital Management is the developer. It made changes to the second phase’s initial plans earlier this July. Originally, plans called for an assisted living facility, office space, or hotel.
Demand is high for apartments in South Florida right now. Plantation Walk’s first residential development, the Rise, was in high demand when it first opened. The same demand is expected for the venture’s second phase.
Plantation Walk Phase 2 is located in Plantation, Florida, 33324, in Broward County. As noted, it’s located on the former site of the Broward County Fashion Mall, which closed in the early 2000s.

I wish they made these places a bit more esthetically pleasing and not so communist block. Hopefully the mixed use component will be more attractive.
