In 2018, Frito-Lay had plans for a massive snack fulfillment center in Osceola County. However, after various setbacks, it decided to table the project for another time. Now, as of August 2022, developers have plans for a $180 million fulfillment center that will require more than 350,000 square feet of new construction.
Although construction has not started on the 75-acre build site, the facility is planned to start operations in 2024, per the Orlando Sentinel. Sources report that construction could start on the one-story facility in April 2023, yet, this hasn’t been confirmed. The 350,000-square-foot facility is an expansion of the venture’s original plan.
Initially, the facility was to measure 286,000 square feet and cost $130 million to complete. Upon completion, the updated Osceola County Frito-Lay Fulfillment Center will create 180 full-time jobs paying at least $43,000 a year. The facility will rely on a mix of automated machines and people.
Frito-Lay North America, Inc. and PepsiCo Concentrate R&D Manufacturing Center are the development’s owners. Both companies are two of the biggest snack manufacturers in the world, responsible for the production of Cheetos, Fritos, and Sun Chips. Presently, Frito-Lay operates more than 30 fulfillment centers in North America.
The Osceola County Frito-Lay Fulfillment Center’s address is South Poinciana Boulevard and Old Tampa Highway, Kissimmee, Florida, 34758, in Osceola County. Developers have owned the build site since 2007. It has remained undeveloped and rests in a commercial-heavy area.
