Canopy at West River Tower 1 is just one of three ventures intended to replace Tampa’s North Boulevard Homes public Housing Project community. Per the Tampa Housing Authority, the new seven-story building will offer 112 homes, ranging from one-bedroom to three-bedroom units.
Communal amenities include a fitness center, conference room, rooftop community garden, library, game room, and more. Plans also call for a five-level parking garage with more than 300 spots.
There will also be close to 4,500 square feet of retail space. This will all rest on a 120-acre build site called “lot T4.” Completion’s slated for October 2023. Barr & Barr reports that the mid-rise building could cost more than $10 million to erect.
Involved parties in the venture include the City of Tampa Housing Authority and the Related Urban Group. Mayor Jean Castor, who formerly served as a police officer for the City of Tampa, told news outlets that she hopes the community will address the area’s growing housing crisis.
As noted, Canopy at West River Tower 1 is just one of three projects that make up the bigger West River redevelopment project. It’s located at 1101 West Main Street, Tampa, Florida, 33607, in Hillsborough County. It’s north of Florida 275 and north of Ballast Point Park.
