The Healthy Housing Foundation has proposed a 12-story affordable housing complex in Miami’s Little River neighborhood. Meet Little River Plaza. If approved, the community would rest on a .94-acre build site, offering 250 apartments.
Per the South Florida Business Journal, they could range from 380 to 540 square feet, intended for those making up to 50 percent of the area median income (AMI). The micro-apartments are designed for efficiency, mostly comprising studio and one-bedroom units. Glavovic Studio is the architect.

On the organization’s website, it notes that the 12-story building will offer nine stories of apartments, resting on a three-story 200-spot parking garage. It also notes that the building’s design integrates a balcony rail system and an aluminum screen to minimize solar heat absorption.
Little River Plaza aims to harken back to “the mid-century subtropical passive solar designed architecture of Florida.” If approved, Little River Plaza would be Glavovic Studio’s second project with the Healthy Housing Foundation. The first project was Biscayne House, a 12-story affordable housing complex with 75 units.
The affordable housing complex would replace this laundromat.
Little River Plaza could start construction in the fourth quarter of 2023. It could take shape at 279 NE 79th Street, Miami, Florida, 33138, in Miami-Dade County.

Wow, some of the nicest design affordable housing I have seen except for the large amount of parking included in the project. wonder what the cost per unit will be?
Great for Little River. Since Miami-Dade County has almost zero public transportation every multi-family building needs lots of parking. Design looks nice.
This product is badly needed. Too bad NE 79th Street is so busy. Noise. We hope the developers buy sound proof walls and windows. Oh, and there are the FEC train tracks 1/2 block away.
