A developer has secured approval for an affordable housing project in Plantation.

Measuring eight stories above grade, Residences at Plantation Square will comprise 307 units, 123 of which will be designated as workforce housing. Of those units, 77 will be for households earning up to 80 percent of the area median income (AMI), while the remaining 46 will be for those earning up to 120 percent of the AMI. Broward County’s median income is currently $89,100.

The homes at Residences at Plantation Square will span studio to three-bedroom layout plans. Communal amenities include a fitness center, swimming pool, and co-working space. There would also be 540 parking spots.

MMG Equity Group, through an affiliate, assembled the project’s build site for around $15 million in 2021 and 2022. It would demolish the dated building on the site and replace it with a new Bank of America.

Miami-based MSA Architects designed Residences at Plantation Square. The firm also designed Alton Delray, another affordable housing development in its namesake city. That project would feature five residential buildings and offer 386 apartments.

Construction is set to start on Residences at Plantation Square in 2026. It will be located at 8190 West Sunrise Boulevard, Plantation, Florida, 33322, in Broward County.
