Fort Lauderdale’s City Commission intends to review plans for a major redevelopment that would bring 973 homes to the region.

Cypress Development LLC wants to replace the 22.8-acre Pan American Estates Mobile Home Park with a three-phase development that would yield rowhomes and apartments. More specifically, plans call for nine five-story apartment buildings, another eight-story building, and five three-story rowhomes. There would be 20 individual rowhomes, with the remaining being apartments.

The apartments would span studio to three-bedroom layouts, with the average unit measuring about 990 square feet. Of the 973 residences, 75 would be affordable housing. Communal amenities would include outdoor gathering areas, multiple swimming pools, 312 bicycle parking spots, and running paths. In total, there would be 1,572 parking spots, averaging to about 1.6 per unit. Miami-based MSA Architects designed the redevelopment.

Cypress Development LLC’s project is following a larger trend of replacing mobile home parks with newer multi-family developments. This August, Florida YIMBY reported on Park Vista, a proposed 74-unit development in Largo that would replace the Louis Palms Mobile Home Park. Earlier in June, we reported on an eight-story, 145-home development that would also replace a mobile home park in Miami.

Cypress Development LLC ‘s 973-unit project is slated for 150 NW 68th Street, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 33309, in Broward County.

  1. Way too much parking and little green space. Looks dated. We need the housing, but this could be better planned. Would be depressing to live there.
