Construction has begun on a new medical office building at Broward Health North, a six-story, 127,033-square-foot healthcare facility located at 201 East Sample Road in Deerfield Beach. The project is being developed by Broward Health, with design by The Beck Group in collaboration with DMZ Architects, and DPR Construction serving as the general contractor. Remedy Medical Properties is also involved as a collaborating partner. Completion is scheduled for 2027.

The groundbreaking ceremony drew more than 100 attendees, including elected officials from Deerfield Beach, Lighthouse Point, and Pompano Beach, along with business and community leaders from across Broward County.

“Yesterday’s groundbreaking marks an important milestone for Broward Health,” said Shane Strum, President and CEO of Broward Health. “This facility reinforces our commitment to meeting the long-term healthcare needs of our community and to serving Broward County residents for generations to come.”

The new building will contain 75 exam rooms, with infrastructure in place to expand capacity to 123 exam rooms in the future. The program will include cardiovascular, neuroscience, and orthopedic services, in addition to other specialty clinics and affiliated physician practices. The co-location of outpatient specialty care with existing inpatient services on the Broward Health North campus is intended to improve coordination and accessibility for patients.

“This medical office building represents a significant investment in the future of care at Broward Health North,” said Matt Garner, CEO of Broward Health North. “Expanding specialty services on campus makes it easier for patients to access the care they need close to home while providing our physicians and care teams with a modern, efficient environment.”

The architecture incorporates design elements inspired by the Deerfield Beach lighthouse, reflecting the surrounding coastal context while reinforcing themes of visibility and guidance. The structure is planned to integrate with the existing hospital campus, improving connectivity and overall site accessibility.

Interior layouts will feature standardized clinic floor plans across the Broward Health system, alongside flexible configurations designed to accommodate evolving healthcare delivery models and new medical technologies.

“Establishing a modern medical office building on the Broward Health North campus allows us to streamline operations and better support how our teams work every day,” said David Clark, senior vice president of operations for Broward Health. “The result is a more coordinated experience for patients and providers.”

This project represents one of the first major ground-up construction efforts by Broward Health in nearly three decades. It is also one of two planned medical office developments, with a second facility and parking structure proposed for the Broward Health Medical Center campus in Fort Lauderdale.
