An affordable housing developer has filed a pre-application that would expand on two residential communities in Miami-Dade County.

As they stand, Golden Lakes Apartments and Hidden Cove Apartments feature a combined 424 apartments. The neighboring developments were constructed in the late 1990s/early 2000s. New plans call for an additional 48 residences in two buildings, bringing the total number of residences to 474. This is well under the current allowable limit, which is 898 units.

In addition to the new homes, plans call for various communal amenities, one of which includes a new swimming pool. It would replace one of the volleyball courts on the site. April Housing is leading the project. The firm is the affordable housing branch of real estate giant Blackstone.

HDJ created the site plan. Tampa attorney Amy E. McPherson filed the project’s pre-application. The process is intended to seek feedback from community members and city officials before formally going for review. Representatives told the South Florida Business Journal that at this time, the 48-unit expansion was conceptual.

As noted, Golden Lakes Apartments and Hidden Cove Apartments are next to one another, with the latter’s address being 1030 NW 155th Lane, Miami, Florida, 33169, in Miami-Dade County.
