Jacksonville, FL, is seeing a huge uptick in growth. Per News 4 Jax, the area saw a 100,000-resident increase over the past 10 years, prompting developers to focus on residential communities.
One of those complexes is Ashley & Hogan Street Apartments (this is not the development’s official name). Per the Jacksonville Record & Observer, the enterprise will cost anywhere from $40 million to $45 million to complete. Construction will begin either in the fourth quarter of 2022 or first quarter of 2023.
The Jacksonville Record & Observer reports that the project will yield over 200 units and also include retail space. Developers purchased two buildings that they will transform into housing and retail units.
One building measures four stories above grade and comprises 20,000 square feet. The second building measures two stories above grade and features 10,000 square feet. Both buildings were built in 1954 and 1947, respectively. Plans are also underway for 80 ground-level parking spots, with another 55 spots at the corner of Ashley and Julia streets.
Developers purchased the buildings from First Baptist Church of Jacksonville in March 2021. The Jacksonville Record & Observer reported that in April 2021, the premises was temporarily serving the area’s homeless community.
The buildings are located at 211 West Ashley Street and 604 North Hogan Street, Jacksonville, FL, 32202, in Duval County.
