Tower One’s Superstructure Reaches Parapet On Smart Brickell At 239 SW 9th Street In Miami

The reinforced concrete superstructure on the first of three towers has reached it’s parapet at Smart Brickell, a 25-story, multi-building complex under construction at 239 Southwest 9th Street in the western section Miami’s Brickell neighborhood. HAC Architects and Urbanists is the design architect with Gensler as the architect of record, and Arquitectonica Interiors is handling interiors. Habitat Group is the developer behind the project.

Exterior Work Nears Completion On CitizenM Hotel In Brickell, Miami

Exterior work is nearing completion on the newly constructed CitizenM Brickell, 277-foot tall hotel in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood. Addressed as 955 South Miami Avenue, the building is designed by Gensler and developed by CitizenM Hotels, a hospitality brand founded by hotelier Rattan Chadha. The 21-story hotel will include 252 lodging units, mostly micro-sized rooms starting at 157 square feet, and up to 4,174 square feet of commercial space at the ground floor.

Envisioning The Future Supertalls Of The City Of Miami

In recent years, the city of Miami has seen an influx of proposals for supertall skyscrapers; this supertall is defined as a building reaching the height of 300 meters or greater, or a minimum of 984 feet. Various developers have put together elite teams of architects and engineers to bring the phenomenon to South Florida, yet as of today, none have been constructed. Skyscraper construction is no myth in the area as the city’s skyline is densely packed with hundreds of high rises, and perhaps even some that visually appear to come close to 300 meters, but a legitimate supertall has yet to come to fruition. This could be due to various factors, such as funding or engineering obstacles; maybe in the past the demand wasn’t there. But what we do know is that the FAA, the Federal Aviation Administration, has approved a handful of supertall skyscraper proposals. These are the most recently proposed and approved projects.

JDS Development Group’s Plan For 1 Southside Park In Brickell

Back in January 2021, renown real estate developer JDS Development Group announced a 2.5 million-square-foot project in the Brickell neighborhood of Miami now known as 1 Southside Park. Addressed as 1133 Southwest 2nd Avenue, the structure is anticipated to rise up to 60-stories and top out at 780-feet, serving as a mixed-use skyscraper of multiple purposes. Based in New York, the developer is notorious for building iconic, one-of-a-kind and sometimes recording breaking buildings such as 111 West 57th Street, 9 Dekalb Avenue and the American Copper Buildings. 830 Brickell Plaza Approaches The Half-Way Mark In Miami’s Financial District

Construction is now approaching the half-way mark at 830 Brickell Plaza, a 57-story office tower in the Brickell neighborhood, Miami’s Financial District bordering Downtown and Riverside. Adjacent to the Eight Street light rail station, the 724-foot-tall skyscraper is designed by renown architectural firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture and developed by OKO Group.
