The Weitz Company, which was founded in 1855 and has over 10 offices nationwide, is constructing Florida Atlantic University’s new residence hall in Jupiter, FL. The three-story residence hall will have 165 beds and be 58,000 square feet. Some units will have two rooms, while others will have four rooms.
This dormitory, in addition to providing student housing, will have a computer lab and fitness center that is available for all students to use.
The Weitz Company also announced on their website that upon the project’s completion, there will also be communal lounging and study areas, community kitchens, laundry rooms, and courtyards with outdoor seating.
This project, combined with Florida Atlantic University’s other residence hall endeavor in Boca Raton (which will replace Algonquin Hall), will cost $78.5 million. The Jupiter location’s residence hall will cost $17.1 million by itself. It will be located on the John D. MacArthur Jupiter campus,
When both of these projects reach completion in summer 2021, they will give housing to 4,700 students (in total) at Florida Atlanta University. Students (at least those without qualifying exceptions) are expected to live on campus for the first two years.
The Weitz Company is working alongside KSQ Design, which designed the building. They have also partnered with Greystar, a housing development team.
