A new town is coming to Collier County, FL. Dubbed “the Town of Big Cypress,” the site will consist of three villages: Rivergrass, Longwater, and Bellmar. The town will hopefully provide thousands of jobs for new residents, as well as provide them with a host of new amenities, like a 42-acre community park.
Each of the three villages will be 1,000 acres. Per NBC2, the Town of Big Cypress will provide a total of 8,300 homes that will house 11,000 people. However, per the Town of Big Cypress’s website, there will be only 830 homes. There is no telling whether this is an update or factual error.
In addition to providing residences, the developer’s managers are also sensitive to the native wildlife and ecosystems in the area. They are putting aside 12,000 acres of natural preserves to ensure ecological stability and conversation in the area. True to the name, the new town will be in close proximity to the Big Cypress National Preserve, which conserves over 700,000 acres of Florida’s natural swamps.
In terms of location, the Town of Big Cypress will be located near Golden Gate Estates and Ave Maria. It will be located in eastern Collier County. There is also no exact number on how much the project will cost, but the end goal is to provide affordable housing to families living in the region.
