To meet South Florida’s increasing demand for affordable housing, Merrimac Ventures has secured approval for a $90 million housing project in Plantation, FL. The six-story multi-family apartment complex will comprise 293,945 square feet of new construction, as well as 306 units. Construction on the six-acre lot will begin sometime in June 2021, per the Construction Journal. The project has been named “Merrimac Plantation.”
The garden-style apartments are flanked with palm trees on each side, with many of the units featuring outdoor balconies. At the time of publication, there was no word on how much rent would cost. However, we do know that amenities will include pools, game rooms, and gyms.
The Real Deal notes that the complex will also feature a 543-space parking lot, which is intended to accommodate both residents, guests, and employees. The organization also notes that the development, along with its parking lot and resident-centered features, will be completed sometime in 2023.
Presently, the project is nearing its construction phase. Bidding by invitation concluded earlier in 2021, with Kaufman Lynn Construction, Inc. securing the project. Witkin Hults Design Group designed the complex. Located in Hollywood, FL, the organization focuses on a wide range of developments, including commercial, retail, multi-family, and affordable housing complexes.
Merrimac Plantation’s physical address is 1711 North University Drive, Plantation, FL, 33322. It is located in Broward County.
