There’s big changes in store for the Broward County Convention Center. A $1 billion initiative intends to expand the center’s total square footage by adding a ballroom, additional meeting spaces, and even hotel rooms for long-term guests.
The project began back in February 2021 and hopefully will wrap up sometime in 2024. As a result, some areas of the convention center will be closed to the general public as the project continues construction.
Per the Construction Journal, the venture seeks to increase the property’s square footage by 300,000 square feet. The expansion also seeks to include anywhere from 750 to 1,250 hotel rooms, which are being overseen by Omni Hotels. The organization has hotels located in California, Illinois, and Texas––among other states.
The goal is not only to host more events but also to increase jobs in the area. Per Broward County’s website, once the convention center reaches completion, it will create 1,000 jobs for those in the area. Ideally, it will draw in over $200 million a year. If the developers can reach this goal, the project could technically pay itself off within five years of operation.
The Broward County Convention Center’s physical address is 1950 Eisenhower Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33316. It’s located in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area.

yep. Ft Lauderdale is one of the hottest growth areas in Florida if not the whole US! I live there and just love it.
