Once, Hialeah was home to a greyhound kennel that commenced operations in the late 1940s. Now, the 28-acre site will transform into Las Carreras, a high-end residential community in Miami-Dade County. Related Group of Florida, the venture’s developer and general contractor, broke ground in the third quarter of 2021. Ideally, construction will end in late 2023.
The complex will feature over 640,000 square feet of new construction, featuring 642 units divided among multiple buildings. Layout plans range from studio apartments to three-bedroom townhomes. The South Florida Business Journal reports that, on average, each unit measures around 1,020 square feet.

Apartments.com notes that there’s 32 studios, 321 one-bedroom units, 193 two-bedroom units, and 96 three-bedroom units. In-unit amenities include granite countertops, hardwood floors, central AC, and washers and dryers.
MSA Architects, based locally in Miami, designed the project’s interior and exterior. Conceptual renderings show low-rise, garden-style units with open courtyards. On-site amenities include a clubhouse, theater room, sauna, dog park, jacuzzi, and pool.

The Construction Journal reports that the project’s owned by Fontainebleau Development, which has four active projects in the private residential, commercial, and heavy and highway sectors.
