Construction is nearing completion on 13495 Veterans Way, a 5-story mixed-use building developed within the 100-acre Lake Nona Town Center master planned community in Lake Nona, Orlando. Designed by Washington, D.C.-based architecture firm CallisonRKTL and developed by the Tavistock Development Company, the building is comprised of 68,398 square feet of space including 63,540 square feet of boutique office spaces across the top four floors and nearly 5,000 square feet of ground floor retail. The glass-clad structure is located adjacent to Lake Nona’s Medical City, a globally-recognized cluster of health and life sciences institutions, and beside the Courtyard and Residence Inn duo-hotel by Marriot. Construction is scheduled to fully wrap up in the Spring of 2022.
Recent photos show the glass curtainwall fully installed around the top four stories of the building and metallic vertical fins in place scattered along the west and south elevations. Close up shots of the exterior reveal the smooth curved corner details and the true nature of the glass panels enveloping the floor-to-ceiling windows, which are beginning to have the protective film peeled off.
The structure sports a type of glass known as View Glass, which is a dynamic, “smart glass” window that reduces solar radiation, heat, and glare, which provides energy savings and eliminates the needs for shades or blinds.
The ground floor retail spaces are nearly fully clad in glass as well and will be anchored by a bank tenant with a drive-thru lane nestled under the structure. Additional space will be dedicated to other uses such as a coffee shop or cafe. The exposed steel perimeter columns still have yet to be clad, which according to the renderings will be covered in a glossy metallic cylindrical enclosure.
Just recently, leading global air and travel services provider dnata announced the establishment of its new U.S. headquarters at 13495 Veterans Way in Lake Nona Town Center and will be occupying the entire top fifth floor and house up to 50 employees, assuming the naming rights for the mixed-use Class-A office building. The office space will support the company’s U.S. operations that provides a range of ground, passenger, and cargo handling services to more than 60 airlines at 26 airports across the country. The new headquarters is expected to open in 2022.
“Our new, high-tech headquarters will ensure the continued efficiency of our U.S. operation and support our customer-oriented team of more than 3,000 aviation professionals throughout the nation,” said David Barker, dnata’s Divisional Senior Vice President for Airport Operations. “We’re excited for the opportunity to collaborate with other like-minded aviation innovators in Lake Nona while being minutes from MCO.”
