In December 2021, Shad Khan, the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, told reporters that he felt Jacksonville was going “downhill.” In an effort to draw more visitors into the area, Khan’s development group, Iguana Investments, is focusing on a new Four Seasons in Duval County. Khan has been working on this venture since 2017.
Construction began on the project earlier in 2022. Developers hope to finish construction on the multi-million-dollar project in 2025. Per the Jacksonville Business Journal, the five-star hotel will offer at least 170 rooms, with some of those units set aside as Class A condos.
Plans include 9,500 square feet of business conferencing space and 37,000 square feet of bars, restaurants, and other amenities. Per the Florida Times-Union, plans also call for a six-story office building. HKS Architects designed the project. Impact Development Management LLC is also involved in the venture, acting as Iguana Investments’ representative.
Conceptual renderings show a futuristic mid-rise building with an open-air courtyard and a resort-style swimming pool. Plans also show an amenities deck, which will feature covered lounge chairs.
Records show that the Four Seasons hotel will be located near TIAA Bank Field, which is the stadium home to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
