Construction To Start on Spanish Forest in Fall 2022, a Complex in St. Augustine, FL

Corner Lot Development LLC plans to start construction on an affordable housing complex by Fall 2022. The community’s working name is “Spanish Forest.” The venture rests on 32 acres and will comprise more than 100 homes; plans call for 54 townhouses and 52 single-family homes.

Forty percent of the homes will be designated as affordable housing units, with homes not exceeding more than $240,000 each. The remaining 60 percent will be marketed as at-rate units. The Jacksonville Business Journal reports that most homes will measure about 1,300 square feet to 1,800 square feet each.

The St. Augustine Record notes that if all goes according to plan, construction will end in Winter 2023. The goal is to provide affordable housing to those living in St. Johns County. In recent years, there has been a huge push for accessible housing opportunities in the area.

Developers hope that the new community will also support local businesses in St. Augustine. Of the various amenities, one includes a walking trail that allows residents to enjoy the area’s preserved wetlands. The trail will also lead to the nearby Solomon Calhoun Community Center.

Records show that Matthews Design Group is the civil engineer. Spanish Forest will be located near Columbus Street in St. Augustine, Florida, 32084, in St. Johns County.
