Pearl Sunrise to Replace Ice Skating Rink at 3363 North Pine Island Road, Sunrise, Florida

Pearl Sunrise, a multi-family housing development, could soon replace a long-abandoned ice skating rink in Sunrise, Florida. The Real Deal reports that the venture may comprise 452 apartment units. The South Florida Business Journal reports that 15 percent of those units will be set aside for those making up to 120 percent of the area’s median income. Homes vary from one-bedroom to three-bedroom layout plans.

Site plans from April 2021 suggest that the apartments will be spread across eight four-story buildings and six three-story townhome buildings. The 40 available townhomes will offer three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The venture measures more than 20 acres.

Communal amenities could feature a dog park, swimming pool, community clubhouse, and fitness center. Plans could also include 814 parking spots and a children’s playground. Sources report that as of August 2022, the developers were still seeking rezoning changes. The area is currently a commercial zone. If approved, the 21.12-acre site could be changed into an irregular residential zone.

The venture could cost $30 million to complete. Roger Fry & Associates Architects, PA is the architect. The Morgan Group, Inc. is acting as the developer and general contractor. Construction’s not expected to start before March 2023.

Pearl Sunrise will replace this ice skating rink, which closed more than 10 years ago.

Pearl Sunrise will be located where the defunct ice skating rink is: 3363 North Pine Island Road, Sunrise, Florida, 33351, in Broward County.
