An affordable housing complex could replace a mobile home park in St. Petersburg. The Point Apartments will comprise 17 apartments.
Early site plans show six one-bedroom, seven two-bedroom, and four three-bedroom apartments. They will measure 720 square feet to 1,380 square feet each, divided between two buildings. Per St. Pete Rising, developers have set aside 13 units for those making at or below 60 percent of the area median income (AMI), while the remaining four will be for those making below 33 percent of the AMI.
At the time of publication, the City of St. Petersburg noted that to qualify, a one-person household would have to make less than $40,000 a year. Communal amenities at the Point Apartments would feature a laundry room, bike rack, and community space. The venture’s expected to cost $5.8 million to complete.
Pinellas Affordable Living (PAL) is the developer. The non-profit organization focuses on creating accessible housing options for low-income individuals and people suffering from mental illnesses. If the project gets approved, the 1.55-acre site will be donated to make room for the new development.
The Point Apartments is slated for 3901 46th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL, 33714, in Pinellas County. It would lie west of Florida 275 and north of the Gladden Park Recreation Center.
