Jacksonville-based Ability Housing has plans for an affordable housing complex in the city’s west side. Village at Cedar Hills will offer a total of 90 units spread across three three-story buildings. Each building will require 32,568 square feet of new construction.
Communal amenities would include a children’s playground, parking lot, and clubhouse. Currently, the City of Jacksonville is reviewing $13.2 million worth of permits submitted by Group 4 Design. If everything goes according to plan, construction could start on the venture in May 2024.
Ability Housing purchased the 7.2-acre build site for $950,000 in 2021, according to the Jacksonville Business Journal. Google Earth’s renderings show that the site is currently undeveloped.
Village at Cedar Hills isn’t the only project that developer Ability Housing has in its pipeline. In March 2024, the firm secured approval for Village at Lake Forest, which will require converting a shuttered elementary school into affordable housing units.
Our sources indicate that the project will feature 120 apartments, ranging from one-bedroom to three-bedroom layout plans. The complex is expected to open in the second quarter of 2025, with units being available to employees of the school district.
Village at Cedar Hills is pending review for 5051 Harlow Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL, 32210, in Duval County.
