Foundation pouring is complete on the site of Okan Tower, a 70-story mixed-use skyscraper under construction at 555 North Miami Avenue in Downtown Miami. International property developer Okan Group recently celebrated this significant milestone for their highly anticipated development, which is set to become the area’s next major mixed-use megaplex. The 36-hour continuous pour began on Friday, March 29, and was expertly managed by general contractor Jacob Companies in a joint venture with Okan Construction.

In the following photos, a fleet of Cemex concrete mixer trucks was lined up along Northwest 1st Avenue, poised for the intricate pour. They worked in tandem with US American Concrete, the project’s concrete contractor, illustrating a well-coordinated effort to lay the robust foundation of Okan Tower. Concrete pumping trucks were stationed beneath the towering Morrow Equipment cranes, their machinery extending skywards, ready to execute the concrete pour.

During the foundation pour, approximately 12,000 cubic yards of concrete were used to fill the vast, excavated hole measuring 234 feet by 140 feet and 14 feet deep. Additionally, 2,300 tons (5,070,632 pounds) of high-strength reinforcing steel was positioned within the foundation by a dedicated crew of 300 workers across three shifts, assisted by 1,200 concrete trucks.

Projected to be a new landmark on the Downtown Miami skyline and soaring to a height of 902 feet, Okan Tower will be one of Miami’s tallest towers upon its completion in 2027. Its unique architecture is expected to become a defining element of the city, with a curved glass apex reminiscent of a tulip, the national flower of Turkey. Designed by the internationally renowned Behar Font & Partners with Thornton Tomasetti as the structural engineer and Witkin Hults + Partners as the landscape architect, the project will include 163 Sky Residences, 236 Short-Term Rental Residences powered by Hilton Hotels & Resorts, and a 316-key Hilton Miami Bayfront Hotel, along with 64,000 square feet of ‘Class A’ office space.

  1. I admit, never been a huge fan of the architecture of this tower, and all I can see from the first rendering of palm trees sprouting from the head of the tower – looks like scraggly hairs growing out of ears. (palm trees at 700′? what happens during hurricane season?!)

    Very nice. Go Miami!

  3. okan tower is very close to jail on 5th street. this is not good for the okan tower tenants.

  4. Obviously some really stupid remarks–there are palm trees on top or near the top of many, many building in Miami. Someone needs to start looking up! As to the jail, close to the jail should be a safe place to be. Close to a busy bar (and that’s all over town!) perhaps not so much!

    • Okan Tower will be built right next Downtown 5th, with on side of the building facing directly on to jail building!! This is not good for okan tower tenants, be sure!!

Odd location. Traffic will be a killer for tenants. And where will all the tenants and customers park?

  6. Okan Tower is really close to jail and it will be built right next Downtown 5th. One side of the Okan Tower is facing directly on to jail on Downtown 5th
