Broward County’s getting a new affordable housing development for seniors. Boulevard Gardens will comprise a six-story and three-story building, offering a total of 92 residences.
According to the South Florida Business Journal, 90 percent of the units (82.8) will be reserved for those earning 60 percent of the area median income (AMI). The remaining 18 would be for those earning up to 33 percent of the AMI. The publication reports that Broward’s median household income is $88,500.
Communal amenities at Boulevard Gardens will include a computer room, fitness center, clubhouse, and outdoor seating areas. There will also be surface parking spots. Burgos Lanza & Associates is the architect. Landmark Cos. is the developer. It’s currently seeking incentives to make the project possible. It hopes to break ground on the endeavor in either late 2025 or early 2026.
Boulevard Gardens isn’t the only affordable housing development for seniors currently unfolding right now. In February 2024, Florida YIMBY reported on Oasis at Aventura, a 95-unit community aimed at seniors earning 25, 33, and 60 percent of Miami’s AMI. Completion is slated for Spring 2025.
Boulevard Gardens will be located at Nine Northwest 27th Ave. in an unincorporated area of Broward County.
