A developer has submitted plans to replace former FBI and Offshore Power Systems buildings with a mixed-income housing complex.
Plans call the project “the 7820 Arlington Residential Development,” although it’s uncertain whether this will be the community’s official name. Baker Design Build hopes to move forward with the construction of about 800 apartments, with 285 in the first three buildings.
The Jacksonville Business Journal reports that the office building located at 7820 Arlington Expressway would become a six-story structure offering 95 units, with the additional two buildings offering 95 units. These buildings will cost around $80 million to complete.
Additional phases could yield more freestanding structures. Construction has already started on the six-story venture, with groundbreaking anticipated for the other two buildings either later this year or early next year.
The Jacksonville Daily Record reports that communal amenities include a dog walk, pickleball courts, and swimming pool, along with a fitness center, co-working space, and community event room.
Our sources indicate that many international and local firms are working together to make this project possible. Jacksonville-based Baker Design Build is the civil engineer. Group 4 Design is the architect, and Ontario-based Axia GeoCapital LLC is the property owner.
The multi-family housing complex would be located along the Arlington Expressway, west of Southside Connector in Duval County.
