Stadler Development Plans 20-Story Tower in St. Petersburg

Stadler Development has plans for a high-rise mixed-use project that would replace several apartment buildings in St. Petersburg.

The locally based firm wants to proceed with a 20-story tower that would comprise 370 luxury apartments, with floorplans ranging from studio to two-bedroom units. Communal amenities would feature an amenity deck and bike racks, along with close to 3,900 square feet of ground-floor retail and a multi-level parking garage with 485 spaces.

In total, the 20-story project would cost $134 million to complete, meeting the demand for high-end living in the area. For the tower to move forward, the developer would demolish seven apartments built in the 1920s and 1930s, of which offer a combined 76 residences. There are also surface parking lots on the 1.3-acre site. Although the buildings are historic to the area, they are not deemed historically significant and therefore not immune to demolition.

Baker Barrios Architects designed the venture. While the St. Petersburg Development Review Commission intended to review the project’s plans last week, that meeting has been postponed indefinitely. Stadler Development has another project in its pipeline: a 213-unit development intended for hospital workers and college students. It’s also unfolding in the St. Petersburg area.

The 20-story, 370-unit development concerns multiple sites at 4th Street North, 5th Avenue North, 5th Street North, St. Petersburg, Florida, 33704, in Pinellas County.

  1. St. Pete deserves better, especially if this turd brown and white box is replacing some handsome 1920s and 1930s buildings. The Exchange Hotel’s replacement is bad enough.
