Fairstead has completed a $17.7 million rehabilitation of Lauderhill Point, a 176-unit affordable housing community located at 3146 NW 19th Street in Lauderhill, within the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area. A ribbon-cutting and community day event was held on August 13 to mark the milestone, with residents joined by local elected officials including Lauderhill Mayor Denise Grant, Commissioners Melissa Dunn, John Hodgson, and Richard Campbell, as well as City Manager Kennie Hobbs and Assistant Manager Sean Henderson.

Originally built in 1973, Lauderhill Point is home to more than 640 residents across 23 two-story buildings with a mix of two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments reserved for households earning up to 60 percent of the Area Median Income. Fairstead began rehabilitation efforts in the first quarter of 2024, completing the work in the second quarter of 2025.

The upgrades included comprehensive interior and exterior renovations such as new HVAC and water heating systems, LED lighting, modernized kitchens and bathrooms, and accessibility improvements. Exterior enhancements featured hurricane-resistant windows, weather-proof roofing, revitalized outdoor spaces, and a redeveloped community center. The scope of work focused on improving energy efficiency, safety, and resiliency while modernizing the property for long-term preservation.

In addition to physical improvements, the rehabilitation has already contributed to enhanced community safety. In the first six months of Fairstead’s ownership, daily police calls to the property dropped by 36 percent, according to the Lauderhill Police Department. Weekly coordination between Fairstead, its on-site security team, and local law enforcement has been credited with creating a visible shift in community stability and reputation.

Fairstead, a vertically integrated real estate company with a portfolio of more than 25,000 residences across 28 states, opened its first Florida regional office in Delray Beach in 2023. The firm’s state portfolio is expected to surpass 2,000 units by 2026.
