YIMBY recently checked in on the progress of the Moxy Wynwood under construction at 255 Northwest 25th Street in Wynwood, Miami. The 120-room boutique hotel, the second for Marriot’s Moxy Hotels brand in Miami-Dade County, is designed by Kobi Karp Architecture & Interior Design Inc. and is being developed by a 50/50 joint venture partnership between real estate investment firm Dolphin Capital Partners and hotel development and management company Baywood Hotels under the Wynwood Hospitality Holdings LLC. Craft Construction Company LLC is serving as the general contractor for the 12-story structure, alongside JGR Construction, Inc. as the structural contractor.
Recent drone photos show the bare concrete shell topped out at around 123 feet or so, which reached its 12-story pinnacle a few months ago. A yellow tower crane from Morrow Equipment Co., LLC. hangs over the property and Northwest 25th Street. Now that work on the concrete shell is at its ends, waterproofing and cladding are imminent, as well as glass and balcony railing installation.

The new building occupies a 16,400-square-foot site near the crossing between Northwest 25th Street and Northwest 3rd Avenue, across the street from Related Group’s Wynwood 25.

Moxy Wynwood is conveniently located within walking distance of the adored Wynwood Walls, Smorgasburg Miami, and a number of dining, beverage, and entertainment venues.

The following renderings below as well as the rendering featured above are the most up-t0-date on Kobi Karp Architect’s website. The exterior of the hotel will be quite unique in the sense that the façade design is comprised of multiple textures, materials, and colors. This is typically the expectation for projects in the Wynwood area, which are often required to incorporate a variety of sensible architectural features that positively contribute to the pedestrian experience and are cohesive enough with the surrounding buildings, both old and new.

One of the biggest contributors to distinguishing Moxy Wynwood from the rest of the neighborhood, at least from an architectural perspective, are the rows of diagonally extruded concrete forms along the lodging levels. The windows are visually angled against each other, which adds dimension and texture to the elevations with these features. Cladding will come in the form of stacked grey bricks on this component, paired with a fusion of glass and aluminum window systems, metallic panels and trims, and murals around other sections of the hotel.

Johnson, Avedano, Lopez, Rodriguez & Walewski Engineering Group, Inc. (JALRW Engineering Group) is serving as the MEP engineer.
Construction is expected to complete in the second quarter of 2023, according to the general contractor.
