The Epicurean is one of Tampa’s biggest hotspots for foodies and wine enthusiasts alike. Established in 2013, it boasts 137 rooms, along with culinary experiences and wine tastings.
Now it’s undergoing an expansion that’ll add 51 guest rooms––all in a four-story building, per That’s So Tampa. The publication notes that guest rooms will comprise 30 standard rooms, eight deluxe king-sized rooms, three two-bedroom units, and a junior suite.
The expansion will cost more than $20 million.
There will also be eight apartments that will be renovated to include dining rooms, kitchenettes, and king-sized beds. Those will replace two apartment buildings dating back to the 1920s, which formerly housed cigar workers.
The Tampa Bay Times notes that the $21 million expansion will also offer a rooftop terrace, private lobby, 91 parking spots, and meeting space. Renderings show that the design will harken back to the overall theme of food and wine. Sources note that it’ll offer “art from corks, a chandelier done in wine and liquor bottles.” Cooper Johnson Smith Architect is the architect.
The expansion will add 51 rooms.
Construction began on the expansion in December 2021, with David Nelson Construction Co. acting as the general contractor. The expansion’s scheduled to finish completion in summer 2023. The Epicurean’s address is 1207 South Howard Street Avenue, Tampa, Florida, 33606, in Hillsborough County.
