Fort Lauderdale-based Green Mills Group hopes to move forward with Peace Village, a four-story affordable housing development for residents 55-plus. The community would offer 104 apartments aimed at those making 70 percent of the area median income (AMI).
Palm Beach County reports that a one-person household earning 80 percent of the AMI would make $51,500 a year. Floorplans at Peace Village would include one-bedroom and two-bedroom layouts; rent would range from $1,279 for a one-bedroom unit and $1,524 for a two-bedroom unit.
Communal amenities at Peace Village would include 132 parking spots and a swimming pool. The build site in question is a 6.48-acre plot that currently hosts an 8,600-square-foot church built in 1995. Peace Village would occupy 2.71 acres of the property’s southern side.
According to the South Florida Business Journal, the church would remain, and developers would build a new entrance for the apartment complex. Gallo Herbert Architects designed Peace Village. Lauren McClellan of JMorton Planning & Landscape Architecture is representing Green Mills Group’s application.
Green Mills Group currently has the build site under contract from the Union Congregational Church of West Palm Beach. Peace Village could take shape at 5088 Summit Boulevard, West Palm Beach, Florida, 33415, in Palm Beach County.
