University Hospital Construction in Davie, FL, 33328
Davie, Florida, is home to Nova Southeastern University (NSU), which is one of the most prestigious private colleges in the southeastern United States. Construction is currently underway for University Hospital, which will alleviate Plantation General Hospital’s patient density.
Construction began in November 2020 and will take an estimated 24 to 30 months to complete. Despite this time frame, the hospital is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2021. It will either open in fall 2021 or December 2021. University Hospital will work in tandem with NSU’s medical program.
When University Hospital opens, it will be part of the HCA Healthcare network, which has 184 hospitals nationwide. The organization acquired the property in Davie for $22 million. The free-standing hospital will sit on 7.2 acres of land.
The hospital will have 160 private rooms and seven operating rooms. It will also have a 32-bed Level I and Level II neo-natal care unit, which will provide medical care to critically-ill newborns. It will have 200 beds and is considered to be a “teaching hospital” for NSU’s medical students.
The hospital will be part of NSU’s “Academical Village.” After the hospital’s construction, hotels, retail stores, residential areas, medical buildings, and classrooms are expected to be erected around the hospital.
The hospital itself will be four stories and have a seven-story parking garage for both healthcare professionals and patients. The physical location is 3400 South University Drive, Davie, FL, 33328.
