Construction is expected to commence in the Spring of 2023 for the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach, a 17-story hotel and commercial development planned for 1701 Convention Center Drive in City Center, Miami Beach. Designed by Arquitectonica, with EoA and Stonehill Taylor as the interior designers, and developed by MB Mixed Use Development, LLC, a joint venture between real estate developers Terra Group and Turnberry Associates, the development is projected to yield 702,607 square feet of space including 800 hotel rooms, 90,000 square feet of indoor meeting/conference space across 4 floors and 10,000 square feet of outdoor meeting space, 15,000 square feet of retail space, 5 food and beverage outlets and 320 parking spaces. Miami and Los Angeles-based Americaribe is the general contractor and Kimley-Horn is the civil engineer; Hyatt Hotels Corporation will manage operations at the property.
The Grand Hyatt Miami Beach will be located beside (and connected to) the 1.4-million-square-foot Miami Beach Convention Center, which underwent a $620 million renovation completed in 2018. The development site sits south of the convention center, bound by Convention Center Drive on the West and 17th Street on the South.
The hotel will feature six different room types, offering 24 suites including 19 junior suites, 3 executive suites and 2 presidential suites. Guest rooms will be spread between floors 5 and 17. There will be 5 food and beverage outlets including a signature restaurant, which is already leased, a lobby bar & lounge, a coffee bar, a 3-meal restaurant and pool bar.
Construction will last approximately 30 months; completion and opening to the pubic is expected towards the end of 2025.
