In May 2021, developers Barron Real Estate, Inc. and Hudson Capital LLC secured approval for a 138-room luxury hotel in Broward County, FL. Construction’s expected to serve in February 2022, with Marker Construction Group and Stiles Corporation operating as the general contractors.
In total, the hotel requires more than 120,427 square feet of new construction. The hotel will measure eight stories above grade. The project’s expected to cost about $25 million to complete and take two years.
The South Florida Business Journal notes that the first floors will be reserved for the lobby and check-in area. They also include over 5,000 square feet of retail space. The third floor through the eighth floor will host hotel rooms. Each story features 23 rooms, ranging from about 380 square feet to 740 square feet.
Amenities include on-site restaurants, a spa, fitness center, and swimming pool. Right now, two businesses currently remain at the location, Warby Parker (an optician) and YETI. Those businesses will be relocated to make way for new construction.
Involved entities on the venture include Vander Ploeg & Associates (the architect), Architectural Alliance (the landscape architect), and Flynn Engineering Services (the civil engineer).
The hotel’s address is 1007 East Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33301, in Broward County.

This was originally called The Pendry, and changed to The Whitfield during the last round of bidding. A great project for the area, including two floors of underground parking & a sub-cellar Speakeasy!
