Construction continues on the Canopy at Babcock Ranch, a residential development in Punta Gorda, Florida. DeAngelis Diamond Construction, Inc. is the general contractor and broke ground on the $91 million venture this spring. The Sun reports that construction could end within 15 months. From there, future residents can start securing homes.
The Canopy at Babcock Ranch will comprise 10 buildings requiring more than 370,000 square feet of new construction. The community will rest on Lake Bullhorn and offer 373 units and 636 parking spots. Communal amenities include a clubhouse, which may offer a fitness center, among other activities.
Milhaus Development owns the venture. On its website, the Indianapolis-based firm notes that homes will comprise studios to three-bedroom apartments. It also notes that the venture is committed to sustainability and will incorporate the surrounding landscape into walking trails and other non-invasive amenities. The development will also be powered by 150 megawatts of solar energy with help from the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL).
Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. is the civil engineer. Other involved entities in the venture include Dwell Design Studio and Beasley & Henley Interior Design. The Canopy at Babcock Ranch’s address is 17174 Curry Preserve Drive, Punta Gorda, Florida, 33982, in Charlotte County.
