10-Unit Habitat for Humanity Complex Undergoes Construction at 1120 16th Street South, St. Petersburg, Florida

Construction continues on Shell Dash Townhomes, a 10-unit community in St. Petersburg’s Campbell Park neighborhood. The Habitat for Humanity development will offer affordable housing options to those making 80 percent of the area median income.

To qualify for residency, applicants must also take part in the Habitat for Humanity program, per the St. Pete Catalyst. Sources note that the two-story development will offer three-bedroom, three-bathroom units, featuring single-car garages.

Homes will be capped at $219,000 each. A 2021 report from St. Pete Rising noted that homes would measure 1,277 square feet each, although it’s unclear whether this has changed.

Renderings show that units come with front porches, hurricane-grade windows, and chef-inspired kitchens. Sources indicate that construction started on the multi-family development in 2022.

Completion is scheduled for the third quarter of 2024. The latest renderings from Google Earth show that the build site was undeveloped prior to groundbreaking. The venture’s estimated to cost more than $2 million to complete.

DuCon Construction is acting as the general contractor and is a state-certified Minority Business Enterprise. Shell Dash Townhomes’ address is 1120 16th Street South, St. Petersburg, Florida, 33705, in Pinellas County. The venture is east of Florida 275.
