Mater Academy recently announced the upcoming Mater Academy SoLé Mia campus, a K-5 charter school situated in the SoLé Mia development in North Miami. The school, spanning 90,000 square feet, is expected to welcome students in the fall of 2025, accommodating up to 1,500 students in two phases. Committed to providing students with a high-quality education focusing on academic excellence and personal growth, the new facility will feature modern classrooms, advanced technology, and ample green space to support academic success and the development of essential skills. Emphasizing a sense of community and engagement, the school aims to personalize learning for each student.
Mater Academy SoLé Mia will offer a rigorous curriculum designed to prepare students for success in college and beyond, with a strong focus on STEM education, including science, technology, engineering, and math. The school will leverage its lush surroundings and proximity to Oleta River State Park to enrich students’ exposure to the natural sciences. Students will also have access to various extracurricular activities, including sports, arts, and clubs, fostering personal growth. Graduates of the fifth grade will have the opportunity to continue their education within the Mater network at nearby high-performing Mater schools like Mater Academy Biscayne Middle and High School.
Roberto Blanch, President of Mater Academy, stated, “With a distinguished history spanning over 25 years, Mater Academy is dedicated to delivering top-tier education in Florida. Our commitment to educational leadership, coupled with our innovative facility design, allows us to effectively serve the community. Our goal is to unlock every student’s potential, and we are confident that Mater Academy SoLé Mia will exemplify this high standard.”
Richard LeFrak, Chairman and CEO of LeFrak, remarked, “The announcement of Mater Academy SoLé Mia is a significant milestone for SoLé Mia. We are proud to be part of this project, which will provide a world-class education to students in the area and contribute to the continued growth and development of the community.”
Jackie Soffer, Chairman and CEO of Turnberry, added, “Outstanding academic institutions are vital to creating vibrant, resilient communities. The addition of Mater Academy to our community will benefit SoLé Mia residents, future University of Miami’s UHealth Medical Center professionals, and the broader community. For Mater Academy students residing in SoLé Mia, the simple pleasure of walking to school will be an everyday reality.”
As the residential population of SoLé Mia continues to expand, Mater Academy will provide top-notch education conveniently close to home. Situated across 184 acres between Biscayne Boulevard and Biscayne Bay near Oleta River State Park, SoLé Mia is already home to over a thousand occupants across the completed residential buildings—The Shoreline, Villa SoLé, and Villa Laguna—enjoying the development’s spacious amenities. The addition of Mater Academy solidifies SoLé Mia as a walkable destination prioritizing wellness, convenience, and community growth.
