Porter Land LLC has secured approval for the redevelopment of the former Raytheon site in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports that plans call for 1,056 apartments on a 29-acre site.
Located southwest of Tyrone Square Mall, the community will offer 318 units designated as affordable housing. One-hundred and fifty-nine are reserved for those making 80 percent or less of the area median income (AMI), and another 159 will be for residents making 120 percent of less of the AMI.
Sources report that a single-person household making 120 percent of the AMI would make about $73,000 a year. Despite the affordable housing label, the complex is not seeking benefits under the recently passed Live Local Act. Sources indicate that the complex will be developed in three phases.
The first and second phases will feature six buildings total, with the third and final phase offering five buildings and 369 units. That’s 11 buildings total, and none will exceed four stories above grade. On-site communal amenities include a children’s playground, a fitness center, three community pools, and community clubhouse.
There are also pedestrian connections to the nearby Pinellas Trail. This is Porter Land LLC’s third attempt to redevelop the parcel. St. Pete Rising suggests that residents could move in by 2024, although this hasn’t been officially confirmed.
The 11-building community’s address is 1501 72 St. N., St. Petersburg, Florida, 33710, in Pinellas County.
