Our sources indicate that an affordable housing complex in St. Peterburg, FL, is reaching the end of construction. Resting on a 1.42-acre lot, Whispering Pines is a 20-unit complex featuring one-bedroom to three-bedroom layout plans, aimed at those making less than 60 percent of the area median income (AMI).
Data from the U.S. Department of HUD: Florida notes that a single-person household would have to make at or less than $36,540 a year to qualify. Boley Centers Inc., a local non-for-profit, is the developer. It has reserved 80 percent of the units (16 homes) for those who have previously experienced homelessness.
The build site measures 1.42 acres.
It broke ground on Whispering Pines in June 2023, with completion on the horizon. This isn’t the only complex that Boley Centers Inc. has completed. St. Pete Rising notes that the developer was behind Evergreen Village and Butterfly Grove.
Both located in St. Petersburg, the affordable housing complexes offered 21 units and 20 units, respectively. Just like Whispering Pines, they had one primary goal: to offer affordable housing to individuals and families struggling with housing security in the region.
The once-vacant site will offer 20 residential units.
Whispering Pines will soon welcome residents at 2655 54th Avenue South, St. Petersburg, FL, 33712, in Pinellas County.
