Bear Creek Commons, an affordable housing development in west St. Petersburg, is nine months into its construction phase. At full buildout, the complex will feature a four-story building, offering 85 residential units.

St. Pete Rising reports that homes will range from one-bedroom to two-bedroom floorplans. They measure 651 square feet to 1,016 square feet, and they come equipped with energy-saving features.

Nine apartments are reserved for seniors earning up to 30 percent of the area median income (AMI), with the remaining 76 units set aside for seniors making 60 percent of the AMI. Based on data from the City of St. Petersburg, a one-person household in the region would have to earn at or less than $18,250 a year to qualify.

Communal amenities at Bear Creek Commons include a game room, gazebo, and art hall. Construction is expected to end on the venture in fall 2024. Blue Sky Communities is the developer. Florida YIMBY has reported on its previous ventures, with the most recent report centering on Skyway Lofts II.
