‘The Hartford’ to Offer 95 Apartments at Hartford Street North and 32nd Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL

The St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) and Blue Sky Communities have teamed up on a new affordable housing complex in Pinellas County. The Hartford will comprise 95 residential units––a 102 percent increase from the original 47 units proposed. Communal amenities could include pickleball courts and shuffleboard.

The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports that the complex will rest on a 1.35-acre site that the SPHA currently owns. Renderings from Google Earth suggest that the future build site is vacant. The Hartford’s homes are intended for families and seniors in need of affordable housing in the region. At the time of publication, our sources did not outline what the income limitations were.

Part of the project involves renovating the nearby Saratoga Apartments (pictured).

As part of the Hartford, the SPHA and Blue Sky Communities will renovate Saratoga Apartments, an affordable housing complex offering 34 apartments in two two-story buildings. The community is just a short walk from the Hartford.

The Saratoga Apartments renovation and the Hartford are just two projects in the SPHA’s pipeline. Recently, Florida YIMBY reported on its plans to renovate the former Ed White Hospital, yielding a six-story, 71-unit apartment building. The complex will double as affordable housing for low-income seniors and the SPHA’s new headquarters.

The complex would occupy a 1.35-acre lot.

The Hartford will be located at Hartford Street North and 32nd Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL, 33713, in Pinellas County.
