Atlanta-based Wood Partners is constructing a multi-family housing development in Southwest Florida. Palmetto (with some sources calling it Altera Palmetto) will comprise 246 units in four stories, offering a mix of one-bedroom to three-bedroom floorplans.
Communal amenities will include a swimming pool and sundeck, grilling areas, and fitness center. There will also be an exclusive clubhouse with a pool table, co-working space, and day office. Construction started on the project earlier this January, with completion slated for May 2026.
Manatee County records show that prior to groundbreaking, the 20.6-acre site was vacant and zoned A-1. They also indicate that the site formerly hosted natural wetlands but developing the site would have a minimal ecological impact.
Palmetto is just one of many projects Wood Partners currently has in its pipeline. Another project is Altera Jacaranda, which Florida YIMBY covered in October 2024. Similar to the Palmetto project, the Venice-based venture would offer one-bedroom to three-bedroom apartments. A notable exception between the two is that Altera Jacaranda intends to be “the only attainable, new construction development” in the region. Another project is V by Alta, a 219-unit luxury housing community in Orlando.
The firm’s website lists Palmetto’s address as 5901 16th Avenue East, Palmetto, FL, 34221, in Manatee County.
