Florida YIMBY has an update regarding a hotel we covered in 2023.
Miami-based Baywood Hotels has started construction on the Element by Westin hotel, a six-story project requiring close to 80,000 square feet of new construction. Plans call for 115 rooms and 71 ground-floor parking spots. Additionally, residents will have access to amenities on the second story, including a fitness center, dining room, and lounge.
As noted, Baywood Hotels initially proposed the venture in 2023. It purchased the hotel’s 1.24-acre build site from the International Game Fish Association. The organization sold the rest of its South Florida campus to the adjacent Bass Pro Shops.

The Element by Westin hotel was made possible thanks to the acquisition of a $22.05 million construction loan. Banesco USA provided the mortgage. Baywood paid $3.3 million for the site itself. Boca Raton-based Anderson Architecture designed the venture; DD&B Construction is the general contractor.
This 115-room hotel isn’t the only hospitality-related construction project in the state. In Miami-Dade, Balfour Beatty recently broke ground on the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach, a 17-story, 800-key hotel. Developers Terra, Turnberry, and the City of Miami Beach intend to have the project completed in late 2027.
The Element by Westin hotel is slated for the southeast corner of Gulfstream Way and Griffin Road, Dania Beach, Florida in Broward County.
